Colby Sawyer College Students Jack and Tyler attended our meeting as they are working on a project of a Regional Investigation of Natural Resources in Merrimack and Sullivan Counties. They are working with ASLPT gathering information on all 12 towns for the evaluation of future projects and where they may need to reserve and protect lands.

List of active managed farms, agriculture mowed fields. The current use parcel map was reviewed. Guidelines of what makes and active farm were discussed. Census list Agriculture of income of $2500/year. Seven parcels were identified. A list of 13 active managing Forest parcels was identified. The town has 6-12 tree farms. The next topic of Land covered by habitat plant communities, special types, and invasive species not mapped. This would be roadside areas as well as unmanaged fields that have been given up. For the question of underdeveloped areas next to surface water and tributary streams the water resource map over lay with the current use map. The Frank Simpson parcel was identified. The question is the SCC actively pursuing land for conservation was asked, the answer is yes, with the problem of being limited funds. Our natural resource does not record scenic view. However there is a Scenic byway group supported by the state of NH. Sunapee, Newbury and New London will be set up with signage and kiosks drawing attention to tracks of interest. Bywaysonline.org. Sunapee does offer and track recreation uses of the land. There are currently trail maps, established parks, snow mobiles trails used by hikers, bikers and winter activates. The maps are located at the Sunapee Information booth and on the town’s website. The students asked if SCC tracks the rate of development. The master plan tracks 40 years and projects future development. We suggested Michael Marquis would be a good resource. The Future land use map shows where we are going.

Tim Fleury made the motion to accept the minutes of October 6, 2010 as written with the date corrected to October 6, 2010. Seconded by Bruce Burdett.  All in favor 6, Opposed0.
